Cape Kiwanda 2009

Here’s what the original artwork looks like for the upcoming Cape Kiwanda Longboard Contest here in Oregon. I made a limited edition poster from it for the event. If they don’t sell out at the event they will be for sale on my website after the weekend. I will be there Saturday and Sunday selling them, plus I will have other prints and some originals as well.

Charley Harper Skate Decks

Habitat Skateboards is about to launch an exclusive line of Skate decks and shoes featuring the art of Charley Harper. I love Charley’s work. I’m not a skater, but I may have to buy one anyways. There will be a launch party July 31st at the Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, OH. Click here for more details.

Staring at the Sun

I’ve been gone for a week at a show I had and also taking care of some family matters. My blog is always neglected during these times since I have an IMac and not a laptop. I get pleasure in unplugging my life from time to time. We got back last night and woke up to fog this morning. But the sun is starting to poke through. This is all the excuse I need to post a T.V. on the Radio video. If you know me, you know that this is one of my favorite contemporary bands. I want to make visual art like they make music.

This morning I received an email from my friend Micah Moss. He’s a screen-writer and actor living in L.A (hmmm, that’s an unusual thing to be down there). I always suspected he was living the good life and not telling us so we wouldn’t get jealous. But this morning I received this image in an email confirming my suspicions. It had this note attached to it “Hi Kids, Here’s a typical day in my life here in L.A.” If you’re a movie director reading my blog (which I know you do, ’cause it’s better than a can of corned beef hash) you should get in touch with Micah. The boy has the chops!

July Art Shows

I have two events coming up this month on the same day. If I could chop myself in two so that I could attend both events I would. But I assume I wouldn’t feel to good after that, and someone would need to bring a lot of napkins for clean-up.

The Green Room Gallery - Astoria, Oregon

Astoria’s newest art gallery and showcase for vintage surf collectibles, has invited me to apart of a show with Michael Lorenzini. Opening night will be Saturday, July 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. The gallery is located in downtown Astoria at 240 11th Street. Join me at this new venue, I would love to see some familiar faces in the crowd.

Closest Thing to Walking on Water - Santa Barbara, California

 Also this month a few of my pieces will be displayed at Latitude Gallery in Santa Barbara, California. The gallery along with the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation are having a benefit art show featuring various surf artists, photographers, and films. Opening night for the show runs 6-10 p.m. on the 11th.  Latitudes is located at 20 Helena Ave., Santa Barbara. The show will be on display through July 31st.
