See my new art here first

Wave

I’m going to try and post new artwork as soon as I finish it on my blog, to give you a preview of something you could see in a future show. This piece will be going to a show in New York City in the fall to benefit SurfAid. Just so you know, with my art there is something always lost in translation with the computer. It’s always best seen in person.

New Painting

June 23, 2009

The_Jetty

Since moving back to my hometown in November, I have found a lot of inspiration for new paintings from old hang-outs. I always thought the sunsets around here were incredible, and I found one recently that I wanted to paint. This painting is a little off of my regular style, but if you are paying attention to my style, you will see it changes quite frequently. I will be posting a number of new pieces soon on my website: artandsurf.com

The Power of Animation

June 18, 2009

Every once in a great while teams of people somehow come together to create a visual masterpiece for the silver screen. These rare gems are few and far between. Do the stars align? Is it fate or destiny? The factors of success are outside of mans comprehension. Ladies and gentlemen this is not one of those moments. But you’ll laugh your head off. Thanks  to Cartoon Brew for posting this.

Upcoming Solo Show

Ablaze

I’ll have my artwork on display for the month of June at Signatures Gallery in Brookings, Oregon. The opening reception will be this Saturday the 13th from 4-7 p.m. Their address is 656 Chetco Avenue. Signatures features some amazing artists. Two that I’m a big fan of are Drew Struzan and Ken Auster. I was a wee little tike when I first encountered both of these artist’s work. Struzan of course did poster art for both Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Auster I knew from his beautiful paintings in Surfer Magazine of pro surfers that I think he did for Chart House restaurants (if my facts on whom he did them for are wrong I apologize, I’m too lazy to go and dig up the old mags). He later became known as one of the best impressionist painters of our time.

The Portland, Oregon Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation along with Wend Magazine are having a benefit art show at Lizard Lounge, 1323 NW Irving Street, for Surfrider’s ongoing programs to benefit our oceans and the Ban the Bag campaign. I will have several canvas prints for sale as part of the benefit show.

The show from 7-10 p.m. will feature various regional surf artists, music by the very talented, Jay Nash and lots of beer courtesy of Widmer Brothers Brewery. Come on down, grab a drink, peep some art, check out the live band, and show your support for Mother Ocean.
