Concept Art

Here are two images I did for a children’s book a few years ago. A friend and I were hoping to get the picture/story book published and we nearly did. We were close to signing a contract. Then the economy tanked and our project got the boot. So I became an alcoholic, hopped a train car, and did a drunken West Coast Karaoke tour to drown my sorrows (this last sentence isn’t true).

This sketch was  the first drawing. It’s a cutaway view of the treehouse so you can see inside. The roots grew around an old bomb shelter that had an escape chute to the beach. I wouldn’t mind living in this place now.

I can’t remember why, but we had to change the scenery a bit. We then placed the treehouse in a neighborhood. Still fun, but I wouldn’t be as inclined to live in this scene.

One of these days, maybe I will try working on another children’s book. It’s on my long to-do list. I think a higher priority is eventually making an animated short film.
