Photos from Sacred Craft

Matt Beard took a bunch of photos of each artist in their art box at this last event. Follow this link to check out more. The above photo is Phil Roberts painting 1970’s Gerry Lopez on a board shaped by Gerry.

Ninja Turtles Are Everywhere

October 18, 2011

There’s something I find really funny about distinguished celebs and musicians with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles drawn on the tips of their noses. If you have that same odd sense of humor, here’s a tumbler for you: Teenage Mutant Ninja Noses.

Sacred Craft Recap

October 13, 2011

Phew…what a whirlwind of a week I had down south. I drove the length of California, twice. The friday night art event at Bliss 101 was a great time. I enjoyed getting to meet and hang out with the whole crew at the shop, as well as locals from the area that came out to show their support. Then it was on to Sacred Craft for the weekend event. I painted alongside many of my favorite artists, some of whom I’ve been fans of for close to thirty years. There were also many younger artists painting that I admire immensely. Good vibes were flowing the whole weekend. The only regret we all had was that we didn’t get enough time to hang out with each other.

The above pic is of me and Jeff “Doc” Lausch of Surf Prescriptions posing with the board I’m working on for SurfAid International. Doc’s a really cool guy and I’m really stoked with his support for this project. Many people were snapping pics of me painting the board over the weekend. One place I just noticed one showing up is on Surfermag.com. If you scroll down the page, you’ll see a Sacred Craft photo highlights that you can click on. Yes, that’s me painting in the photo that represents the whole event!

I was also able to drop off art at two area shops while I was there. The first I already mentioned is Bliss 101. The second is Surf Indian in Pacific Beach. Between the two shops, all of my originals, canvas prints, and small paper prints were dispersed. I basically don’t have anything left on hand. I now need to get back to work on creating new artwork and prints. Time to finish this blog entry and get back at it.

The Process…

October 7, 2011

Here’s a bit of insight to my creative process. These pics are minus the frustration and joy I feel with every painting I produce. I’m hoping to finish this board tomorrow or Sunday at Sacred Craft in Del Mar. Many thanks to Jeff “Doc” Lausch of Surf Prescription for donating the board to a good cause.

SoCal Art Events

October 4, 2011
The return of fall is upon us in the Pacific Northwest, the rain is drumming on my roof and I have a insatiable desire for warm drinks. But the best part is the return of decent swell!I’m welcoming the season by heading south, makes sense right? Well actually no, but I have two very good reason to be heading south. The first is Sacred Craft Consumer Surfboard Expo. I’ll be there in “The Art Grotto” with several other amazing artists like Phil Roberts, Rick Rietveld, Damian Fulton, Wade Koniakowsky, Erik Abel, Matt Beard and Ron Croci to name a few.

During the event all the artist’s will be participating in a Board Art Benefit by creating live art on surfboards for the purpose of raising support for SurfAid International.

All this action is happening October 8th and 9th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, in Del Mar California.

The second reason I’m heading south is for a show at Bliss 101. On Friday, October 7th starting at 6 pm myself and photographers Deb & Jordan Hetrick will be featuring our work at Bliss 101.

I’ve been partnering with Bliss for several months to bring my work to the Encinitas community. I have to say they do an excellent job and I’m excited to be a part of what they have going on. You can find them at 687 S Coast Hwy. 101, Suite 151, Encinitas, CA next to Whole Foods.
