2010 has not been a good year for sunshine where I live. The rain was unrelenting this past winter. The beginning of summer showed promise, but that hope quickly faded behind a big moist fog bank. Sunlight here this year has gone the way of the Dodo (this is an exaggeration, I just wanted to put the word Dodo in my blog). I’m protesting today by wearing shorts! The shorter I can find the better. If I had a pair of those old Thomas Magnum corduroy shorts, I’d be wearing them. Only problem is, I don’t have a big bushy mustache to keep myself warm like Tom Selleck has. As a matter of fact, my body is mostly hair folliclely challenged. Maybe this protest is a bad idea. I’ll postpone it for a slightly warmer day. No wait, that’s not a very good protest is it? O.k., I’ll wear the shorts and concentrate on this picture I took recently when the sun was actually out for an hour.
My whirlwind six day trip to San Diego for an art show is now history. Driving 2000 miles in six days really takes it out of you. I have to give a shout out to coffee for it’s ability to give me get up and go when it’s got up and went. Mmmm…coffee. Our little economy car did great as well! It takes about two tanks of gas to cover the whole length of California. Thanks also to everyone who gave me a couch to crash on, a meal to devour, or a nice word about my art. The support means a lot.
The show went well and I really enjoy getting to hang out with the different artists, surfboard shapers, and people interested in both those things. Good conversation was had abundantly. Cheers.
I’ll be in the sea of masses this weekend in San Diego attending the ASR trade show. I’ll have art on display as part of the Surf Story Project book that I’m in. I’ll be in the Sacred Craft section of the ASR. I’ll have originals on display and for sale, as well as t-shirts and prints. Come by and say hi.

Summer’s been super busy for me. I’ve done some commissions, I’ve also been building a studio in my garage, and working on a new website. So almost no personal art has been done. That will hopefully change soon. My hopes are to have a new series to accompany the launch of my website. There will definitely be new art and merchandise available for purchase.
